3d desktop from Sun
It seems like I've been hearing about this sort of thing for years. Every few years (or months?), someone comes up with the idea that a 3d PC desktop is better than 2d (despite being displayed in 2d). THis time, Sun is talking about it, and I have every faith that it will go about as far as all the others have – namely, nowhere.
I can understand where people are coming from here, but the simple fact (as I see it) remains – a computer only displays in 2d. Any attempt to display three dimensions in that is going to have to work around that limitation.
Anyhow, the concept is interesting. Maybe someone can prove me wrong, perhaps it'll be Sun.
